30 Day Challenge: Day 5: A photo of something you really hate.

I’m not sure there’s much else to say about this. I think raising kids in hard-line, orthodox, literalist religion is child abuse. You’re raising your kinds to be blind, self-righteous bigots. This is any religious upbringing of the kind I described. Unlike Dawkins, I do think that some people need tools like faith to deal with life’s shit. Teaching children about faith is one of the tools you can offer to them. Demanding they believe exactly the same things as long-dead superstitious ancestors is blinding them to all the other tools and experiences they could have had in this tiny life we get.

I want to live in a world where parents want the best for their kids – even if it’s isn’t what they, the parents, would hope for.
